Written and recorded just prior to the lock-down and sitting in a digital dustbin, my dear friend of 25+ years, trumpeter Bijon Watson (who has recently won his first Grammy® Award) and I decided to finally release our first album together in 2021. He and I had songs we had already written, but it seemed to make sense to put them together as collective works of art, and interestingly our two different styles and approaches to songwriting and arranging somehow works beautifully. We recorded 9-songs live at The Palms Recording Studio in Las Vegas in one day – and it was mixed and mastered in one day. We somehow captured lightning in a bottle.
As a result, I feel incredibly blessed that The Recording Academy recognized this album, which was up for a 2022 GRAMMY® Nomination for "Best Jazz Vocal Album", respectively. I'm very proud of this record and it just goes to show how different styles of music can work seamlessly together.
